#5: La Piccioletta Barca (Featured Guest)

Eponine Howarth and Micaela Brinsley, L.P.B. Co-Editors-in-Chief

This week’s Author Up brings us abroad and aboard La Piccioletta Barca, an independent international arts and literature magazine and collective. Our Featured Guests are two of three co-editors-in-chief of LPB, Eponine Howarth and Micaela Brinsley.

La Piccioletta Barca describes itself as a publication in constant evolution — part magazine, part archive, part artistic gathering place. Its pages hold poetry, fiction, essays, translations, interviews, visual art, and a wide-ranging commitment to the messy, meaningful work of making and sharing art.

In our conversation, I talk with Eponine and Micaela about editorial collaboration, the myth of the solitary artist, the role of independent magazines in building literary community, and how a publication can keep changing without losing its center.

Their mission statement asks not just “art for art’s sake,” but art for what, for whom, and how.

Watch the full conversation, and please take a moment to visit La Piccioletta Barca, explore their archive, follow their work, and support LPB!
